Pight Walkthrough: Levels 11–20

Pull pistons, handoffs, and the second mechanic batch.

Walkthrough: Levels 11–20

Levels 11 through 20 mark Pight’s first real difficulty ramp after the introductory push-piston lessons. Mindlabor introduces pull pistons here—the second of eight mechanics that appear roughly every ten levels across the full ninety-level campaign. You will combine push and pull in the same chain, time triggers more carefully, and set habits that sticky blocks and portals later depend on. This walkthrough explains stage patterns, common failure points, and study drills without posting pixel-perfect spoilers.

Finish Walkthrough: Levels 1–10 first. Keep Piston Mechanics open for facing diagrams and Controls for undo bindings.

The level 11 introduction

Level 11 is the teaching gate for pull pistons. Watch for a block type whose head grabs on retract instead of only shoving on extend. The lesson:

  • Extend to contact a movable cube.
  • Retract to drag that cube one tile backward along the piston axis.
  • Walls still block movement; empty space must exist behind the piston body.

If retract does nothing, the head never touched a movable block on extend, or the destination line is blocked. Undo one tile and retry—do not rebuild the whole puzzle.

Patterns across levels 11–15

Pull around corners. Push a block into a pull piston’s face, then retract to yank it sideways past a wall you could not push through directly.

Hold-and-release. Some stages require a pull piston to hold a block while a push piston clears space, then release on the next tick. Run partial simulations to see the hold frame.

Minimal piston counts. Designers expect you to reuse the same piston twice via trigger loops. Extra pistons often mean you are fighting the intended sequence.

Demo players: the Steam demo ends at level 15, so this walkthrough covers the entire demo’s second half. Buying the full game continues the same difficulty curve through level 20 and beyond—see Demo vs Full Game.

Patterns across levels 16–20

Difficulty consolidates everything from 1–15:

  • Push-pull-push scripts in one run.
  • Competing pistons where order decides success.
  • Light block handoffs where the bulb changes carriers mid-chain.
  • Narrow corridors that punish wrong-facing pull heads by one tile.

Level 18–20 form another soft wall similar to level 10. Players who skipped the Piston Mechanics guide feel stuck here even with good push skills.

Sequencing checklist

Before hitting run on any level 11+ stage:

  1. Label each trigger 1, 2, 3… in fire order.
  2. For each trigger, write P for push effect or R for pull effect.
  3. Track the light block position after each line.
  4. If two lines change the same tile, verify priority in sim.

When the script exceeds five steps, checkpoint undo after step three. Dynamite and Undo describes checkpoint thinking even before dynamite unlocks.

Preparing for level 21+

Level 21 begins the sticky block batch. Adhesion clusters reward the precise positioning you learned pulling blocks into exact tiles. Preview Sticky Blocks & Portals so level 21 does not feel like a new game.

Portals replace older rail mechanics in the Steam release—you will not see track tiles in this band. Teleport routing arrives a few levels after sticky tutorials.

Stuck on a specific 11–20 level?

Practice recommendations

  • Replay level 11 with intentionally wrong facing to train undo speed.
  • Speed-run levels 12–14 for muscle memory before tackling 19–20.
  • After clearing 20, spend ten minutes on sticky guide theory before touching 21.
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

When do pull pistons start?

Pull pistons debut around level 11, at the start of the second mechanic batch every ten levels.

Is level 20 harder than level 10?

For many players, yes. Levels 18–20 combine push and pull chains that are longer than the level 10 wall.

Does the demo include levels 11–15?

Yes. The demo ships 15 levels total, covering all of 11–15 and part of the pull-piston curriculum.

What mechanic comes after level 20?

Sticky blocks arrive in the third batch around levels 21–30, followed later by portals and dynamite.

How do I practice pull timing?

Use partial simulation, pause mentally at retract frames, and checkpoint undo before long chains on levels 16–20.
